What is Trade license ?

According to Section 353 of Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 lists the trades and industries that require a trade licence from concerned municipal authorities. In Bangalore, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike [BBMP] is the civic agency that issues trade licences to various shops and industries within its jurisdiction to safeguard the public heath. 

 

1. How to apply for BBMP trade License ?

To apply for trade license you have to follow the below steps step by steps. if you have any doubts you can contact us or you can pay fee we will do further steps to get your license.  

  1. Step 01 : Go to BBMP Official Website – BBMP.GOV.IN
  2. Go to trade license section and tap on it 
  3. Tap on get started under the new trade license 
  4. Enter mobile number and email id and enter an otp
  5. Upload required documents and her you go 
  6. Within few days application will proceed

2.  Trade licenses are categorized : based on business nature, including food establishment, industries, and shop licenses. For instance, food establishment licenses are necessary for hotels, restaurants, and food stalls, while industries licenses apply to manufacturing factories and cyber cafes, and shop licenses cover businesses like barber shops and candle manufacturers.
3. Eligibility criteria for obtaining a trade license may vary by state, but common requirements include being above 18 years, no criminal record, legal business operations, adherence to the state’s shop and establishment act, and conducting business in an approved area.
4. Required documents also vary but often include address and identity proof of the applicant, company-related documents (if applicable), canceled cheque and business bank statement, legal occupancy document for the business premises, proof of business activity, lease deed or rent agreement, and any other documents specified by the local authority.
5. Processing times vary based on business:  type and location, typically ranging from 7-10 days in metropolitan areas to 30 days or more in other regions.
6. Trade licenses are valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Renewal applications, along with the required fee and documents, must be submitted at least 30 days before the expiry date. Failure to do so may result in penalties or license cancellation.
